While in Spain at a press launch, I got in touch with my friends in Ducati, Madrid and borrowed a Monster 821 Stripe and soon I was waving goodbye and heading off on another moto adventure. Just perfect.

The first thing I noticed was the amount of motorbikes around. What a great start. Once out of the busy city I headed east and into the countryside into a part of Spain I’ve never been before. Over the next three days I am going to travel around the Alto Tajo National park area, ride some remote twisty roads through gorgeous scenery and visit some historic towns.

Just look at this place. It’s totally stunning. Can you believe that people would even build a house like that. Absolutely fantastic. After seeing the hanging houses I ventured into town to grab coffee and check out the Gothic Cathedral. Back on the Ducati monster I continued to climb through the narrow streets to more beautiful vistas.

Once I’d seen Cuenca from both sides of the valley, I then navigated back down and some of those corners were super tight. Leaving town, I rode up into the countryside again and I instantly found great roads and lots of freedom.

Fresh bread, look at that fresh slice of ham, good grief. So good, I love Spain. After my monster sandwich I happily rode until the sun went down. The scenery was always changing. The corners were non-stop and I was just having a blast riding my motorbike. The twist and turns kept coming but as darkness closed in, I started to look for a place to rest my head.

    Day 2

Wow, what a fantastic day yesterday. We got out of Madrid city center, really busy, then headed east into the countryside. It’s view fantastic. We found amazing biking roads, beautiful towns with loads of history. Let’s get back on this bike and do more of the same today.

As soon as I hit the road I was I was riding alongside the gorgeous clear water of Rio Escabas River that cut through a stunning rock valley. Definitely worth stopping for.

[Climbing rock ladder] Okay I’m going no further. That’s more scary than riding a motorbike.

Back on the Monster 821 and it was just more stunning scenery and great roads everywhere I turned. Just amazing.

Ah, but then I rode into darker skies and worsening weather. It might be raining but its not going to stop the fun. Woohoo! Lagunaseca! The rain stopped, the sun’s out and its lunchtime. Luckily, there’s a village just around the corner. Lunchtime. Look at that. Let’s get a hamburger, Spanish style.

Oh my goodness, look at that. We need to ask about the tapas but this came recommended. They know how to make burgers in Spain too. I know this looks bad but it came recommended. They made it, I’m going to eat it. These strawberries are absolutely amazing. Oh, that was good. If you’re in this area, I recommend this place (Baz Restaurante).

Recharged, I rode further into the Alto Tajo National Park and I loved every mile as I found a dream road. That road, believe it or not is not even on the map. It’s brand new. Fresh tarmac, nobody on the road. Wonderful ups and downs, fantastic scenery. Yeah, that road is made for motorbikes. Sun’s coming down so let’s go and try and find some digs.

    Day 3

For my third and final day, I left The Alto Tajo National park for a visit to the medieval town of Albarracín, said to be one of Spain’s most beautiful. It’s the end of the road, let’s head into town and go check this out.

So here we are in Albarracín, it’s been a beautiful road to get here. Look at this historic town. Beautiful architecture, loads of history. Absolutely stunning. Spain is magnificent.

All this walking, I worked up quite an appetite. Let’s grab some lunch. We’ve got noodle soup and spinach cannelloni and this is just the starter. I’m in heaven once again. My taste buds are going overload right now, this is incredible. Make us pig trotters and veal. Must sound bad but it tastes damn good. Amazing. It’s a happy day. Okay, I had to do it, double dessert time. I wish you could taste this, this is beautiful. If you’re in Albarracín come here (La Realda Mesón Restaurante) – you will not be disappointing. What a fine lunch. Let’s get back on that bike, hit the road, get on some more twisties.

After gorgeous Albarracín, I will head northwest, leaving the province of Teruel into fantastic roads as I headed to the final historic stop of this adventure. This road is magnificent but this trail looks too appealing.

That’s it, we’ve come to the close of our magnificent Spanish adventure. Loads of brilliant roads, gorgeous food. The Ducati 821 has been an absolute blast to ride and as always Spain’s been loads of fun. But you don’t have to be far from home to go on an adventure, just get on your motorbike and go for a ride.
