We’re out in the desert — on a Harley Davidson!

    This is MotoGeo!

When I first saw this custom Harley Davidson Dual-Sport I just wanted to ride it. So I got in touch with the creators, Carducci and before I knew it I was heading out into the remote high desert and putting this American V-twin beast through its paces.

My base camp over the next couple of days is going to be an old desert gold mining area, which these days is a real living ghost town nestled deep in the California wilderness and that has many brilliant off-road trails in the surrounding area.

So here we are in Ransburg, now this town was developed in 1895 and really a part of

the gold mining boom.  Many buildings have come and gone over the years here, mainly

because of fires actually started, believe it or not, but just by butts of cigarettes. Once a fire started in this place used to burn half the town down because nobody could ever get any water to extinguish anything. So the town’s changed over the decades but what’s remained is this really old hotel That has being here since 1922 and we are actually staying here over the next couple of days.

What’s wonderful about Randsburg is the surrounding area, just an absolute delight for any dual-sport motorcycle trails in abundance some really interesting places to go and what to see, so let’s take this Harley-Davidson places that you shouldn’t see a Harley

Wow, look how slim this thing is, this bike would have been a beauty in its day.

    Oh well….

It’s a shame, but look at that, ha ha, I don’t think this bike will be running again…

It’s lunchtime! And if there is a burger on the menu, i’m going to get it. This place does an amazing burger…. So good. And their speciality is Blueberry Shake, so dam good. And look at the extra!

Great food, come here its a special place.

So this is Ransburg’s General Store,  now this place is famous for this huge long soda counter. Which was installed in 1904 and since then, they have been knocking out tremendous shakes, soda and all kinds of things at this place, and they also do some awesome home cooked food.

It is definitely worth checking out and this place is one of a kind, a living ghost town. Having not seen anyone since I rolled into town other than the store owner, it was more than a surprise to see a whole group of other dual-sport riders as I stepped outside, these guys were all from Rawhide,

who had an adventure rally going on in the area.

We chatted about motorbikes and the local trails, and then soon I was on my way.

Lets go! Come on, to the hills! Ha ha

So this is Rangsburgs very tiny and very old city jail. Only two jail cells. Anyway, it is now non-operational, lets go check it out.

Oh dude, there is no door!

So on  my trail riding around Ransburg, and the surrounding area, we’ve come across this mine.

Quite incredible to believe that around 100 years ago, this place was fully functional and churning out gold.

Lots of men at work, even a town has been built here based on something like this, but now it is derelict, it has been filled in, but it is still really fascinating to come across something like this and check it out.

As the sun began to set I headed back to base. Already looking forward to exploring more trails tomorrow…..

As I rode through town the next morning, I noticed the local Art Gallery was open, so I popped inside.

It was there I saw a photo of the Husky Monument, the gallery owner told this place way out in the desert, and then went on to give me some rather vague but solid points of reference.

This place was a must do!

So without hesitation I jumped on the Carducci dual-sport and headed for the desert.

So we have come out into the trails, we are actually looking for the Husky monument. A sacred motorcycle monument thats way out here, 15 miles, way out in the middle of knowhere.

We have taken this trail so far, a good 5 miles, we are at a junction and I am not sure where we are.

Ahead of us we have a dry lake bed, which just looks fantastic, so we are going to check that out.

This is super fun, it is baking hot, it is a gorgeous day, the bike is awesome.

Fantastic, and look at this, no one around, which is awesome unless we have a problem! Ha ha

Anyway, lets jump back on this bike and head for the lake bed.

So we are here trail riding on the Carducci Dual-Sport, having a great day and we have just come across this little cemetary. Now we are in the middle of nowhere guys,  I’m not joking you, towns are 20 or 30 miles away. There are no signs to this, there’s no names on any of the grave stones

But anyway, we are here lets check it out,  it looks like an interesting place.

With this being such a popular mining area. You can bet your life thats what this place is. The miners that worked, digging this ground, looking for gold.

Anyway, I am going to get on my gold, my bike.

I am having fun, I am just lost….that way.

A local in town told us that if we got to this huge dead giant Joshua Tree, then we were close to the monument. So, I think now, lets head south and the monument is really close.

MotoGeo finally makes it onto TV!

We found it, the Husky monument,  so this place is all about remembering those who have passed.

Avid motorcyclist, those who used to love dirt biking, desert rats, people who used to trail ride out here.

After they have passed, people have come out here, concreted parts of their motorcycle and memorabilia into the ground

    And really telling a story

    This is fantastic

What a place to rest, out in the desert, out here amongst your buddies. Top do.

So here we are in Trona Pinnacles, look at this incredible place. It used to be under a lake, it not here any more it is all dried up and these incredible rock formations are here. You can just take your bike, or your car and drive around. Really experience this place.

And if your recognize it, it might be because it has been on an episode of Start Trek

But you don’t have to go to the moon, just come here to Trona Pinnacles and enjoy this area

Just like I am doing here on the Carducci Harley-Davidson Dual-Sport

Now jump on your motorbike, and go for a blast!
