Wow, can you believe it!? Next week I fly to Africa as I embark on a 2 week motorcycle adventure which will start and finish in Johannesburg but will take me all over Mozambique!! Woo-hoo!!

Somehow, by some strike of luck I’ve been invited to tag onto a group of very enthusiastic Italian motorcycle riders who have been planning their own motorcycle adventure for ages and have it all sorted, the only thing I had to do was say ‘yes’ to the invitation and get over to Africa.

Before I go anywhere I need to get as many vaccinations as possible to protect me from any deadly diseases so I can at least make it back alive.

It turns out after ringing up Passport Heath in Los Angeles and booking an appointment, I’m now sat in front of a nurse that is informing me that there are many diseases in Mozambique that are spread by animals, coughing, food, water, insect bites, surgery, and swimming.

There is not enough time to get me 3 rabies shots before I go so I must stay away for animals, which will be really hard as I love dogs, cats, and all things furry but I am now covered from Hepatitis A & Typhoid, I got a Tetanus jab and something else. I did, however, pass on the Yellow Fever as it’s a live vaccine, plus it comes with side effects, one of which is Yellow Fever and I didn’t want a shot of that today or any day.

On top of that I’ve 23 Malaria tablets to take and it strongly recommended that I take with me diarrhea tablets, some antibiotics, and my own needles as 75% of needles in Mozambique have been previously used.

It might all sound a bit dangerous but really we have nothing to worry about because apparently as most tourists get killed from road traffic accidents than any of the spreadable stuff so at least that’s a plus.

      Well I guess it is……
